UXO Survey Seminar

Date19 June 2015
VenueSouthampton Solent University Conference Centre

Organised and hosted by The Hydrographic Society UK this one-day seminar and accompanying table-top exhibition will focus on Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Surveys.

The date has been chosen to enable those attending the Seawork exhibition to attend both events on consecutive days.

A separately ticketed social event, also in Southampton, on the evening of Thursday 18th June will enable delegates and members to meet, relax, eat, drink and celebrate World Hydrography Day.

Unexploded ordnance (UXO) are defined as explosive munitions which haven't yet been set off. UXO may already have been fired, dropped or launched, but it failed to detonate as intended and therefore still poses a risk, possibly decades after deployment. In addition, the seminar may also consider explosive remnants of war (ERW) which have subsequently entered the marine environment. The seminar will focus on the marine environment including rivers and lakes, nearshore and offshore.

Participants are expected to be drawn from a range of marine sectors including Offshore Oil & Gas, Marine Renewables, Port and Terminal Civil Engineering and Dredging. The event is expected to be of interest to the hydrographic community, engineers and insurers.

For further information including exhibition and sponsorship opportunities, delegate registration and the associated social event visit the UXO Survey Seminar page or contact uxo@ths.org.uk.
