The UKHO's Implementation and Experience of Airborne Bathymetric LiDAR

by Rob Andrew (International Programmes Officer) and David Parker (Civil Hydrography Manager)

Rob Andrew is a hydrographic surveyor with over 5 years' experience in the hydrographic survey industry, in commercial survey companies (Gardline and Bibby HydroMap) and at the UK Hydrographic Office.

Rob currently works for the Data Acquisition team, assisting in the management and delivery of the UKHO's International Hydrographic Programmes in the Caribbean and South Pacific. 

David Parker has worked predominantly in the near shore and port hydrography sector for 22 years in commercial survey companies, civil engineering consultants and latterly in government agencies.  He is currently Civil Hydrography Manager at the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office, responsible for managing the UKHO's involvement in the UK's principal seabed mapping programme. Until recently, he ran the UK's survey activity in the Pacific and Caribbean regions for two years.

In addition, he also provides training and consultancy on current survey technologies and practices worldwide on behalf of IHO and IMO.  He has a degree in Hydrography and Ocean Science, is a Fellow of IMarEST, a Chartered Marine Scientist and a Director of The Hydrographic Society UK
