We are actively seeking a Geophysicist to join Next Geosolutions, a marine survey and offshore construction support company who provide services worldwide in the Energy, Infrastructure & Utilities markets.

Next Geosolutions mission is to provide integrated services, both on land and at sea, to support the entire lifetime of our Client’s projects and assets, establishing ourselves as an independent, QHSE mindful and technology driven contractor.

They are currently involved with and have a number of projects scheduled over the next few years which include Geophysical, Hydrographic and Construction support and positioning surveys for the subsea cables, renewables and oil and gas markets.

Key Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Geophysicist to join this international company, working within the offshore team.

As a key member of the Survey team, you will be responsible for the operation of equipment and the acquisition of positioning, hydrographic and geophysical survey data, The role of a Involves the processing and interpretation of geophysical data acquired through various sensors. The role will require the use of a wide range of hydrographic and positioning equipment and software, across a wide range of survey scopes all over the world.

Organisation:

  • During your time offshore you will be working closely with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of other Surveyors, Survey Engineers, Party Chief, Reports Coordinator, Data Processors, Geotechnical engineers and operators as well as the marine crew.
  • You will ensure all geophysical data being acquired is of good quality, is collected and stored efficiently and accurately. You will be responsible for the processing of geophysical data including SSS, SBP, Pinger, Maggie as required by procedures and project specifications.
  • You will communicate regularly survey team onboard and onshore teams when required and report into the Party Chief
  • Offshore experience on a range of survey projects and able to work offshore for circa 180 days per year.
  • The ability to work in and preserve a safe environment for yourself and your colleagues. This company promotes a proactive attitude to safe working practices.

Responsibilities and Objectives:

  • Participate in the mobilisation activities. Responsible for ensuring the geophysical survey systems is producing good quality data.
  • You will be responsible for the QC and provisional interpretation of the shallow geophysical data with the relevant reports to be delivered to the Party Chief.
  • You will be required to assist and develop techniques for processing, interpretation and ground modelling to support offshore projects.
  • Use of relevant software for processing and provisional interpretation (eg. IHS Kingdom, Sonarwiz, CODA, Oasis Montaj).
  • Using relevant Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software (ArcGIS, QGIS or similar).
  • Assisting in development procedures and writing specifications with relation to geophysical surveys.

Essential:

  • Qualification - Geoscience related degree.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of marine geophysics, including knowledge of the full suite of geophysical equipment, techniques and standards in order to develop offshore site and route investigation and UXO work.
  • 3 years+ working on Hydrographic / Geophysical survey operations.
  • Current and valid offshore medical certificate;
  • Current and valid offshore survival certificate;
  • Fair to Good English Communication skills;
  • An excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Disciplined, self-motivated and flexible team player.
  • Able to work flexible hours, travel when required and work offshore.
  • Must live within a reasonable distance of a major airport.
  • Proficient in the use of at least one online survey software package.
  • Understanding of the principles of real-time positioning, data acquisition and data QC.
