We are actively seeking Senior Surveyor Engineers to join Next Geosolutions, a marine survey and offshore construction support company who provide services worldwide in the Energy, Infrastructure & Utilities markets.

Next Geosolutions mission is to provide integrated services, both on land and at sea, to support the entire lifetime of our Client’s projects and assets, establishing ourselves as an independent, QHSE mindful and technology driven contractor.

They are currently involved with and have a number of projects scheduled over the next few years which include Geophysical, Hydrographic and Construction support and positioning surveys for the subsea cables, renewables and oil and gas markets.

Key Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Survey Engineer or Senior Survey Engineer to join the company in Norwich, UK, working with the offshore team.

As a Senior Survey/Geophysical Engineer you will be responsible for the mobilisation and operation of positioning, hydrographic and geophysical survey equipment, including acquisition and QC of data onboard survey and construction vessels. The role of a Senior Survey / Geophysical Engineer requires covering a wide range of duties and responsibilities including coaching, mentoring of less experienced engineers, set up, test and operation of a wide range of hydrographic and positioning equipment and software, across a wide range of survey scopes all over the world.

Organisation:

  • During your time offshore you will be working closely with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Surveyors, Geophysicists, Party Chief, Reports Coordinator and Data Processors as well as the marine crew. You will ensure all survey equipment is working effectively and data is collected efficiently and accurately. You will communicate regularly with the Party Chief and survey team onboard and onshore teams when required.
  • Offshore experience on a range of survey projects and able to work offshore for circa 180 days per year.
  • The ability to work in and preserve a safe environment for yourself and your colleagues. This company promotes a proactive attitude to safe working practices.
  • You will need to have experience with mobilisation and operation of survey systems as well as troubleshooting, fault finding and equipment maintenance.
  • You will need to have a proactive and positive attitude; and are a team player.

Responsibilities and Objectives:

  • Providing technical support to survey activities, including the setup, interfacing, testing, calibration and operation of survey sensors.
  • Responsible for equipment preparation and set up in the workshop;
  • Operating online survey software and monitoring the data quality to ensure the survey specification is achieved.
  • Preparing reports including damage / fault reports.
  • Implementing and reviewing Planned Maintenance Systems as appropriate.
  • Maintaining and administering the inventory of equipment and consumables.
  • Supervising and providing training to staff.
  • Coaching, mentoring and assisting in the development of less experienced members of the team.

Essential:

  • BSc / HND or equivalent in relevant electronics / IT related discipline OR equivalent vocational qualifications and experience.
  • Proficient in the setup and operation of commonly used survey sensors and positioning equipment, e.g. GNSS, Gyro, MRU, USBL, MBES, SSS, SBP
  • Experience in fault finding, troubleshooting and reporting.
  • Computer literate including networking.
  • Experienced in equipment maintenance.
  • An excellent communicator (verbally and written) and able to form good working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Disciplined, self-motivated and flexible team player.
  • Able to work flexible hours, travel when required and work offshore.
  • Must live within a reasonable distance of a major airport.

Desirable:

  • Proficient in the use of at least one online survey software package.
  • Experience using CAD
  • Understanding of the principles of real-time positioning, data acquisition and data QC.
  • Experience in report writing.
  • Experience in Networking.
