Hydro18 to address climate change

25 April 2018

Hydro18, the 26th symposium and exhibition of the International Federation of Hydrographic Societies (IFHS), will take as its theme 'The Climate for Change - Hydrography in the 21st Century'. This, alongside the sub-theme, 'Hydrography, the key to facing the rising tide of climate change, knowing our oceans and understanding our future', will offer delegates opportunities to explore hydrography's pivotal role as mankind adapts to climate change, rising sea levels and the urgent requirements for sustainable resources and renewable energy.

Hydro18, which takes place at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont in Sydney, Australia from 30th October to 2nd November, is expected to attract a worldwide audience of over 300 individuals and speakers drawn from fields including all the hydrographic sectors, maritime transport, oceanography, offshore exploration, environmental science, maritime heritage, defence, tourism, coastal development, ports and harbours, and government.

The programme, hosted this year by the Australasian Hydrographic Society, is expected to include plenary and themed conference sessions as well as a dedicated student and graduate presentation session, specialist workshops, on-water demonstrations and an exhibition of specialist equipment and services.

Call for abstracts

The Organising Committee invites prospective participants to submit abstracts and papers, which comply with the Guidelines for Abstracts and Papers (published on the Hydro18 website) for oral presentations by 31st May.

Abstracts are sought which reflect the conference theme and original papers will be selected on merit. Papers eventually seclected for the Hydro18 will best reflect the theme and sub-themes and provide overall balance to the final programme.

Speakers will be encouraged to prepare and provide a full conference paper for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings.
