MMT completes geophysical seabed survey for AQUIND Interconnector

7 June 2018

MMT has recently completed a geophysical seabed survey and delivered the final report for the proposed AQUIND Interconnector offshore cable route between southern England and the Normandy region of northern France.

Utilised MV Franklin for offshore works and MV Seabeam for nearshore works, MMT surveyed a corridor between Portsmouth and Dieppe.

Four cables, bundled as two pairs, will be installed along the approximately 190km long surveyed route. No major obstacles were uncovered during the survey.

The survey results will inform Environmental Impact Assessments in both countries and will be further refined during the geotechnical survey campaign.

MMT will be undertaking a geotechnical campaign to further characterise the seabed conditions along the cable route during the summer of 2018.

The project is on schedule and AQUIND and its advisors are keeping all stakeholders in both countries informed of the ongoing activities.
