New recognition for hydrographers

12 December 2019

IMarEST has launched a new hydrographic-specific designation for its Chartered Marine Scientist register to allow hydrographers to distinguish themselves through the use of the post-nominal CMarSci(Hydrography).

Although scientists and technologists based anywhere in the world have been able to gain Chartered status through the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology for many years, the new designation marks the first time that hydrographic professional have been able to specify and demonstrate their particular area of  expertise and competence through.

The Institute also expects to recognise oceanographers and metocean experts, and cartographers and navigators with the introduction of further descriptors to the CMarSci and CMarTech registers respectively.
