IIC Technologies receives S-8B recognition from IBSC

4 January 2021

Complementing its established S-5B globally deliverable Hydrographic Surveying program, IIC is pleased to announce the recognition of its Marine Geospatial Information training program by the FIG/IHO/ICA International Board on Standards of Competence for Hydrographic Surveyors and Nautical Cartographers (IBSC), under the S8B category for Nautical Cartography.

The program is designed to prepare candidates with the theoretical and practical competencies necessary to effectively carry out the planning and implementation of nautical chart production.

As a distinguishing element, the “Marine Geospatial Information – Global Delivery” program can now be taken on-line or on site, making it a truly distance learning, modular and flexible program that can be delivered anywhere in the world.

As with most technical training programs, the students’ competencies should be achieved with a relevant hands-on portion. To this end, the Marine Geospatial Information program has a practical component that complies with the IBSC requirements. This allows participants to take most of the distance learning program from the comfort of their homes and offices, avoiding long stays away from families and duties, as well as guaranteeing health and safety in these difficult times.
